Artaria

Artaria, Austrian music publishing house, founded in Mainz as Giovanni Artaria & Co. in 1765, but which moved to Vienna in 1766. Artaria played an important role in the publishing of music by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and their contemporaries. Although its publishing closed down in the late 19th century, it published the national series of editions, Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich, edited by Guido Adler, between 1894 and 1918.

One letter from Artaria to Schenker survives as OC B/201 (1913).
