Kahn, Marianne

Kahn, Marianne (born Prague, Nov 26, 1878-19??), pupil of Schenker's.

Kahn first introduced herself to Schenker on January 17, 1907 (diary OJ 1/6, p. 32), became a pupil of his from September 23, 1907 (diary OJ 1/6, p. 48) until at least 1932. She appears in the Lesson Books 1913-31 (OC 3/1-4) there are lesson notes for her 1931-32 (OC 16/35-37); and there is a letter from Schenker to her from 1934 (OC 44/23). She is recorded as having left Vienna for Sanremo in Italy on July 21, 1939, and nothing is known of her thereafter.

Correspondence between Angi Elias and the Schenkers suggests that Kahn and Elias were close friends. Kahn was a piano teacher herself, and Schenker occasionally passed students on to her.
