Scheibler, Ludwig

Ludwig Scheibler (1848-1921), art historian and music historian. Among his publications was Geschichte der Kölner Malerschule (1894-1902).

Scheibler published a monograph on Franz Schuberts einstimmige Lieder, Gesänge, und Balladen mit Texten von Schiller in 1905. Together with Otto Erich Deutsch, Scheibler was one of the key figures in early Schubert scholarship.

There is no known correspondence between Scheibler and Schenker. His name arises in correspondence with Otto Erich Deutsch.
